MACEDON, NY (October 28,2011) - After my unfortunate weekend at Barber Motorsports Park in late June, I suffered an injury to my left hand. I lost the front end in turn five of race two resulting in a serious injury to my pinky finger. The race of champions was the first time that I would grid up and race since my wreck. So I flew down to Florida in hopes to shake off the jitters and get some quality seat time.

I spent most of practice getting used to new Suzuki 600’s that I am riding now while building my confidence back up. I had two races on Saturday where I had to start from the back of the grid, which was around 35th place. The first race was 25 minutes, and I got a good start. My only goal at this time was to just make it through turn one. There was so much traffic and clutter through the first section of track that I kept careful until we got up on the banking. I got a good drive and was able to draft pass five bikes going into the next section.

BATAVIA, NY (June 21, 2011) - After round five of the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series Kyle maintains 4th place in the championship hunt after a hard-fought 6th place finish on Sunday at Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, AL.

An issue before the race caused Kyle to miss the sighting lap. Under AMA Pro Racing discretion, Kyle was appointed to the back of the grid for the start of the race leaving a gap in the starting grid where his 6th place qualifying position originally was. Over the course of the main, Kyle passed 13 riders in 11 laps to finish the day off in 6th place.

Heading into the races at Road America, I was confident that I could get a good result, but didn’t expect to have the incredible weekend that I did. Friday Practice and qualifying went extremely well. We unloaded the bike and hardly made any changes all day. I was 2nd in the provisional qualifying for Supersport and felt that I had a lot left under my belt. Saturday morning final qualifying and practice consisted of a 3rd fastest in the Supersport, and 2nd fastest on the XR1200. I was very happy to be on the front row and knew all I needed was a good start and I could hang with the lead pack of riders.

"Round three of the AMA Flat Track series couldn’t have come any sooner. I was excited for this weekend because I participated in a race at this track just a few weeks prior to the event. Although they changed up the configuration and size of the track, I was still confident that I could get a good result. Practice and qualifying went by and I found myself qualified 7th out of 50 riders! The indoor short track made up of very tacky clay seemed to fit my riding style and I was excited for a front row start in the heat race. I got a decent start and was stuck on the outside line for a couple laps and finally snuck my way to the bottom with only a few laps to go. I held the inside line and came away with a 6th place direct transfer to the main event. As the night went on, the track started to groove up and become a bit slippery.....

Today was a new day, it was sunny out and I was ready and excited to ride! The second session of qualifying on the XR1200 went well. I was focusing on drafting and working with some of the other riders attempting to put in a faster lap time than In yesterdays session. Due to the cold temperatures, I was only able to go slightly quicker and found myself in the 6th overall spot on the grid. Running back over to the dirt track, I was ready to go and wound up qualifying 6th which was better than yesterday and put me in a good starting spot for the heat races. Opening ceremonies for the dirt track races weren’t until the evening so I had to head back over to the speedway and prepare myself for the XR1200 race.

Travis Wyman and his team traveled down to Mooresville, NC to further their knowledge and test the XR1200 in the A2 Wind Tunnel. Experience from Aaron Brown, Bob Smith, and Dave Salazar helped make this a successful trip for the entire crew!

“It was really cool to be able to strap down in the wind tunnel on the XR1200. I learned a lot about my rider positioning as well as a few things that have to do with the bike itself. I was unable to make the Daytona tire test due to educational circumstances but I feel as though we are right where we need to be in order to be successful at the first round in Daytona!”

Travis would like to thank his 2010 sponsors for their continued support into the 2011 race season! Harv’s Harley-Davidson, AB1 Motorsports, REV’ IT, Arai, and Long Pond Autobody.
